A little more than two weeks ago, a story broke proving that Shia LaBeouf had plagiarized a Dan Clowes comic for his latest short film. But instead of simply giving Clowes a call or shooting him an email to talk their issues out, LaBeouf had a skywriter plaster an apology to the artist in the space above Los Angeles. Here is his tweet documenting the strange display:

LaBeouf’s very public meltdown is now complete. After numerous plagiarism accusations and the threat of legal action against him, he has now turned this controversy into a surreal piece of performance art. We just think that Clowes would have enjoyed the apology more if he, ya know, actually lived in Los Angeles.
