Just when you thought the Shia LaBeouf plagiarism scandal—in which he apologized for plagiarizing with plagiarized apologies—couldn't expand beyond apologies via skywriter, Lena Dunham has entered the fray to shake things up. After tweeting a thinly veiled jab at Shia's bizarre skywriting stunt, Shia—now fully embracing his recent ridicule on a completely meta level—promptly replied to her on Twitter, with what else, but one of her own past apologies. Read their back and forth below, which never really amounted to anything heated, and appears to have ended amicably—derisive Even Stevens reference notwithstanding.
Oh, and that lean comment? That's Shia "quoting" from a Gucci Mane tweet expressing a similar sentiment.
I've always felt, utterly and unchangeably, that only sociopaths hire skywriters.— Lena Dunham (@lenadunham) January 4, 2014
I don't mind creating debate with thoroughly considered artistic expressions but I don't want to offend with a tweet. Sorry world.— Shia LaBeouf (@thecampaignbook) January 4, 2014
Im addicted to lean & that shit ain’t no joke. I can barely remember all the things I’ve done & said. However there’s no excuse 4 skywriting— Shia LaBeouf (@thecampaignbook) January 4, 2014
Vaguely recognized Shia Labeouf's latest twitter apology and realized it was MINE! Touché, Louis Stevens.— Lena Dunham (@lenadunham) January 4, 2014
