Heartbreaking Surveillance Footage Shows Slain San Diego Cop's Last Act

This is so sad.

On Aug. 6, a San Diego police officer was fatally injured in a completely unprovoked attack in the city's City Heights section. Surveillance footage has captured his final act: Purchasing food for a child at McDonald's.

In the video, Officer Jeremy Henwood can be seen talking with the boy at the McDonald's just after purchasing their food. Just minutes later, witnesses claim a man pulled up next to Henwood's vehicle and opened fire with a shotgun. Henwood, 36, passed away at 1:42 a.m. the following morning.

According to NBC San Diego, authorities identified 23-year-old Dejon Marquee White as the suspect. He was killed during a confrontation with police about an hour after Henwood was shot.

A four-year member of the SDPD, Henwood also served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. On Aug. 12, he was posthumously promoted to major.
