With the success of The CW’s Arrow, the network is looking to build upon that world by putting a pilot for The Flash, another DC property, into production. Earlier during this season of Arrow, Grant Gustin appeared as Barry Allen, a.k.a. The Flash, who was eventually struck by lightning in an origin story that will set up the pilot. Now according to Deadline, the network has cast Rick Cosnett and Danielle Panabaker to co-star in the pilot along with Gustin.

Panabaker will appear as Caitlin Snow, a scientist who lost her fiancé during an explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs. Longtime comic book fans will know that Caitlin Snow is the alter-ego of Killer Frost, a super-powered villainess from the DC Universe. In addition to appearing in the comics, she has also starred in the recent Injustice: Gods Among Us video game.

What’s even more interesting is that Cosnett is set to play Detective Eddie Thawne, who is described as a man with a mysterious past and a dark secret. Thawne is also the last name of Professor Zoom, one of the Flash’s most infamous villains from the comics. While we doubt Thawne will be portrayed as a time traveler like in the books, he will hopefully still have his trademark homicidal streak.

While it hasn’t been confirmed that Cosnett and Panabaker will eventually turn into the villains that they’re named after, we would be naïve not to expect it eventually. If they do turn to the dark side, hopefully The CW will go all out and put them in their famous costumes as well.
