And the saga surrounding the leaked script for Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight continues. The newest development: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tarantino is reportedly suing Gawker Media for posting a link to the first draft of The Hateful Eight's script, two weeks after he finished it and nearly one week after it somehow managed to leak to agents despite Tarantino having only given copies to six people.
Gawker's Defamer blog posted the script late last week, with the headline "Here Is the Leaked Quentin Tarantino Hateful Eight script." The post linked to an anonymous file-sharing site, at which one can download the full, 146-page script.
Tarantino's suit alleges that the post violates his rights, "to make a buck" off him: "Gawker Media has made a business of predatory journalism, violating people’s rights to make a buck...This time, they went too far. Rather than merely publishing a news story reporting that Plaintiff’s screenplay may have been circulating in Hollywood without his permission, Gawker Media crossed the journalistic line by promoting itself to the public as the first source to read the entire Screenplay illegally."
It also claims that Gawker has not removed the post after "repeat demands for the removal of the posted URL links" and "submissions of DMCA notices of copyright infringement." As THR notes:

In addition to having the post removed, Tarantino is also seeking over $1 million in unspecified damages.
