The PlayStation Network will be down for approximately six hours' worth of maintenance on Monday, January 27.

PlayStation community manager Paul Sullivan wrote in the PlayStation community forums that the outage will run from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. EST.

The maintenance, however, will not block users from playing games or using partner services as long as they have logged in recently.

"If you’ve signed in to PlayStation Network any time since January 20th you will be able to play games online and access partner apps such as Netflix during this maintenance period," Sullivan wrote. "The PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home and Account Management will not be available during this time, and users may receive a maintenance notification when attempting to access these services."

Sony suggests players log in prior to the outage to ensure that they can play games and use services during the maintenance.
