If that short teaser from last month featuring Eva Green in a dark room praying to an inverted cross while looking terrified out of her mind wasn't enough to convince you that her new Showtime series Penny Dreadful is going to be creepy, perhaps this will be: The cable network has just released a new, slightly longer teaser for the upcoming series, which features actual clips from the show as well as a look at some of the other characters, including Josh Hartnett's.
The series, which hails from Skyfall writer John Logan and is executive produced by Sam Mendes, is said to "weave together the origins of literary horror characters, such as Victor Frankenstein, Frankenstein's monster, Dorian Gray, and Count Dracula, as they grapple with their monstrous alienation in Victorian London." In other words, things are going to get creepy—but, y'know, that dude in this trailer literally contorting his body in half is indication of that enough.
In addition to Green and Harnett, Timothy Dalton and Doctor Who star Billie Piper also appear in the series. Check the teaser out above—Penny Dreadful will premiere on Showtime this May.
