Fans of Kevin James can finally breathe a sigh of relief because according to The Hollywood Reporter, a sequel to 2009’s Paul Blart: Mall Cop has suddenly, and inexplicably, been put into production. In addition to writing the script, along with Nick Bakay, James will once again don the coveted rent-a-cop costume for the next installment in the franchise. Andy Fickman is currently in talks with the studio to come on board as director.

Scoff if you must, but the first Blart movie pulled in an impressive $183 million at the worldwide box office on a measly $26 million budget. That's a hefty profit percentage that most blockbusters fail to make. There is only one question to ask: where can this sequel go? Will Paul Blart finally become a traffic cop? Maybe a regular cop? Either way, hopefully James can recruit his former King of Queens co-star, Patton Oswalt, to bring in some extra laughs. We’ll keep you updated as more information on the Paul Blart sequel becomes available.
