New footage from Felix Baumgartner’s Red Bull Stratos space jump has just been released—and yes, it’s just as nauseating and amazing as you probably imagined.
In October 2012, Baumgartner jumped from a balloon-like space craft 24 miles high, falling to Earth and eventually breaking the sound barrier on the way down. Before going off the ledge, Baumgartner had a few words for his dispatcher and those listening on the cameras.
“I wish you could see what I can see,” he said. “Sometimes, you have to get up really high to understand how small you are.”
And then he leaped. Above is the full video of Baumgartner’s journey, which gets intense around the 5:20 mark where he briefly loses control during the descend, starts spinning, and claims he’s going to pass out. Either way, it’s a beautiful and stomach-churning seven minutes that shows Baumgartner’s bravery and perseverance, so make sure to watch—on an empty stomach.
