The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has won—if you could even call it that—the title of the most pirated movie of 2013.

TorrentFreak released the end-of-year numbers for downloads across all BitTorrent networks, with The Hobbit getting 8.4 million illegal downloads. Perhaps a few of those were from people who wanted to catch up before seeing the more interesting The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which was released last month. Rounding out the number two and three spots is Django Unchained with 8.4 million downloads, andFast & Furious 6 with 7.9 million. TorrentFreak does admit that these numbers could be lower than the actual amount, since they don't take into account downloads from rogue sites and cyberlockers.
