Good news: CBS has just ordered a pilot that seems promising. According to Vulture, the network has picked up a new drama series titled Madam Secretary, which is executive produced by Morgan Freeman and follows the personal and professional life of a "maverick" female secretary of State "as she pushes international diplomacy, deals with office politics and balances a complicated family life." Even better: It's being written by Joan of Arcadia creator and Homeland writer Barbara Hall. Sounds pretty great!
This isn't Freeman's first time executive producing a series, but it is the first time the show is a scripted drama: Prior to this, Freeman executive produced the documentary science shows Through the Wormhole and Curiosity for the Discovery Channel.
