JFK International Airport Closed Temporarily After Plane Skids Off Runway

The airport is expected to reopen later this morning.

A combination of freezing rain and ice in the New York-area has caused JFK International Airport to cancel all flights temporarily after a plane skidded off the runway this morning.

The trouble began when Delta Connection Flight 4100, which departed Toronto at 6:10 a.m., landed at JFK International around 7:56 p.m. before skidding off runway 22L. The New York Daily News reports that the airport was closed at 8:32 a.m.; the FAA has said that it will open at 11:30 a.m.
