Now that Disney owns the Star Wars universe (and everything else you ever loved as a child), you can expect new movies about jedis, princesses, and droids to hit the screen every year for at least the next decade. But, honestly, the whole good guy thing is getting old, and a new report on AMC Movie Talk has revealed that one of the franchise’s most popular villains, Boba Fett, is set to be the star of his own Star Wars spinoff movie. Here is what director Jon Schnepp (Metalocalypse) revealed about what he has heard regarding the project:
One of [the Star Wars spinoffs] is Boba Fett. It is. I know. I know for a fact. I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan.
For those unaware, Lawrence Kasdan is the writer of The Empire Strikes Back, the uncontested highpoint of the franchise. That should be more than enough evidence for fans that while Disney is primed to shove plenty of Star Wars down your throat over the coming years, at least the company is trying to do it right.
Boba Fett has been one of the most popular Star Wars characters over the past 30 years, despite not actually doing much in the movies themselves. Hopefully a spinoff will give him the spotlight he deserves.
