Patrick Jackson is a firefighter with a pretty interesting hobby.

Between fighting fires and saving kittens stuck in trees, Jackson is working on an app for Google Glass. No, it's not a silly game or a new way to send sexts, but something that can potentially save lives and property, if not now, in the future when the app and technology becomes more refined. So far, Patrick has created a way for emergency calls to be directed to Glass, and for directions to be pushed to the device. Glass will also be able to locate nearby fire hydrants when they arrive at their destination.

An obvious plus to having Glass as a firefighter is letting civilians see the difficult and memorable experiences that come with the job through their own eyes. If all goes well, Patrick's app should be hot.

Google Glass is expected to become available to the public this year.
