The character everyone probably thought of when they first heard "Star Wars" spinoff, Boba Fett, is indeed getting his own film.

When Disney announced their plan to produce several spinoff films set in the Star Wars universe, Boba Fett was probably one of the first characters everyone thought of (as far as characters from the original trilogy go) to get the solo treatment. So it should come as no surprise that the bounty hunter is indeed first up, with a planned standalone currently being penned by longtime Lucasfilm scribe Lawrence Kasdan (co-writer credits include The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi).

The scoop comes from Jon Schnepp, who has directing credits for several Adult Swim series: "One of them is Boba Fett. It is. I know. I know for a fact. I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan." This seems to confirm Entertainment Weekly's report from almost a full year ago that Boba Fett and young Han Solo were the rumored initial standalone plans. As per EW, the Boba spin-off would probably take place between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, a necessity since the badass bounty hunter meets his maker via the Sarlacc in Return of the Jedi. First order of business, since this is at least three years out: dream casting! Who would you love to see when Boba Fett finally removes his helmet?
