Every week we're getting new information about the NSA that reveals their ever expanding mission to be able steal data from practically anyone on the planet. Now, whether you're ready to go off the grid and pick up an old Nokia 3100, you're probably going to stick to the smartphone lifestyle for the forseeable future. Thanks to a new partnership between Silent Circle and Geeksphone, a NSA-proof smartphone may be on the horizon. Called the Blackphone, the new device aims to protect users' data through an Android-powered OS called PrivatOS, and will let users make and receive secure phone calls, video chats, as well as exchange secure texts and files. The phone's specs haven't been announced, but they say it will a high-end device.
"Blackphone provides users with everything they need to ensure privacy and control of their communications, along with all the other high-end smartphone features they have come to expect," said Phil Zimmermann, creator of data encryption protocol PGP.
Preorders for the phone will start at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, on Feb. 24. Check out the promotional video above.
