For fans eagerly awaiting the big screen showdown between Warner Brothers’ Batman/Superman movie and Marvel’s Avengers sequel, this news will come as a bit of a disappointment. According to Super Hero Hype, Warner Bros. has delayed Batman/Superman from July 17, 2015 until May 6, 2016.
No reasons were given why, but this might be a blessing in disguise for the studio. First of all, the summer of 2015 is packed with competition from The Avengers 2, Ant-Man, Jurassic World, the new Terminator movie, Fast Seven, and plenty of other blockbusters. Secondly, 2015 would have been a quick turnaround after 2013’s Man of Steel and 2012’s Dark Knight Rises. It might be best to let the Christopher Nolan Batman movies get further away in the rear-view mirror in order for fans to accept Ben Affleck’s take a bit more.
Lastly, with so many cast members and cameos promised, the script for the movie could probably use a little more polish anyway. Writer Chris Terrio was just brought in to perform a rewrite, so it’s possible that caused the delay. We’ll have more on this story when the studio releases any information.
