In addition to a starring role in HBO’s Girls, Adam Driver has quickly become one of Hollywood’s most intriguing young stars after supporting parts in 2013’s Frances Ha and Inside Llewyn Davis. Now Showbiz 411 is reporting that Driver has been cast in director Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film, Silence. The movie revolves around the persecution of two Jesuit priests in 17th century Japan. The movie will also star Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man) and Ken Watanabe (Inception).

It's been revealed that Garfield has been cast as Father Rodrigues in the film, and while Driver’s exact role hasn’t been talked about, he may very well wind up as the other priest, Father Garrpe. This is a project that Scorsese has been trying to get off the ground for years, and he revealed to the site that shooting will finally begin next summer.
