Yesterday, someone shot a man dressed as Santa Claus—in the back, nonetheless—during a toy giveaway in Southeast D.C. Xavier Hawkins, who has driven the  Barry Farms event for the past seven years, was being interviewed by ABC7 when he was shot in the upper back with a pellet gun.

Though understandably dismayed that he caught a bullet in the back while trying to do good for the community, Hawkis nremained thankful. "Thank God I'm living and it's not a real gun...I'm very grateful that no one else got hit—especially the kids," he told ABC7.

According to ABC7, Hawkins remained poised as his wounds were being treated and wanted to continue handing out toys, despite the protests of medics. This man is a solider.
