In what is likely the weirdest casting news anyone will read today, Deadline is reporting that Rita Ora has signed on to appear in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey film adaptation, which just began production in Vancouver. This isn't her first acting gig, but it seems like it will be her biggest—Ora has previously appeared as herself in an episode of 90210, and she made a cameo in this year's Fast & Furious 6 as a racer.

As for her character: She'll reportedly portray Mia, "the outgoing adopted sister of billionaire Christian Grey" who apparently "studied cooking in Paris," as people do. She joins Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson, Eloise Mumford, and Victor Rasuk in the cast. Strange casting, but as Deadline notes, the film will likely help her break out in the US with her music—which shouldn't be too hard, considering she's already dominating the charts in the UK.

Fifty Shades of Grey is set to be released in theaters in February 2015.
