After those monster ratings that NBC pulled in for The Sound of Music Live! last week, it's no surprise that the network is now looking to recreate the magic that Carrie Underwood created—well, tried to create, anyway. According to Vulture, NBC has announced that they are planning another live musical to air during the holiday season next year, after The Sound of Music Live! scored them the best Thursday night ratings they'd seen since the finale of ER in 2009.

As the Chairman of NBC's entertainment division told The New York Times: "All weekend, people have been calling us and e-mailing us. Rights holders of musicals have said, ‘Please do one of our shows.’ We’re excited to try it again," he said. "There’s enough to do a handful of these over the next years, if we keep increasing the learning curve. There may be a little bit of a phenomenon to the first one of these. Who knows what happens Year 2, 3 or 4. But you’ve got to have events. I think we could do this again — and again and again."

In other words: Because everyone watched The Sound of Music Live! last week, we're now all condemned to watch live musicals on NBC over and over and over until the end of time. This is now our fate.
