Historically, Soccer and American Football have been the leading sports games for any video game publisher but 2K Sports has just announced that their hit title, NBA 2K14 has changed all of that. The global market research company NPD Group made it official via a written statement. “According to November 2013 NPD Data, NBA 2K14 was the best-selling sports video game on next generation consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and was the number four best-selling next-gen game overall,” said NPD analyst Liam Callahan.
2K Sports credits 2K14's extra leg up for next-gen was the substantial improvements made to the graphics and physics. Players were made more realistic by taking 3D renderings of the real NBA players. In-game interviews were done with actual player voices and and movement used life-like weight distribution instead of default animations.
