Landscaper Marvin Martinez was picking up leaves left behind by Hurricane Sandy last November when he happened upon the winning million-dollar lottery ticket. After taking the "Win $1,000 a Week for Life" ticket to a New York Lottery customer service center, the 27-year-old Long Island resident told the New York Post that he "forgot about it." It wasn't until three weeks ago that they reached out to him, explaining that it was his to keep after going unclaimed.

Martinez took a lump sum payment, which still leaves him with $515,612 after taxes. Even though he does plan on using the money to help fix his mother's home and take his wife on a honeymoon, he vows that the money won't change him.

"I’m still going to keep working six days a week," he told the Post.
