If you didn't already know, there's a organization readying itself to send a crew on a one-way trip to Mars in 2025.

In order to participate in the exclusive program with Mars One, applicants had to register with the organization and send in a video documenting why they should be selected. Almost 200,000 sent in their applications, and now, about 99-percent of those applicants have been cut. Mars One announced that they have filtered the applicants down to 1,058 people, who, if picked, will be split into four-person teams from about a dozen people. Those teams, in turn, will then star in a reality TV show to showcase their training and participate in challenges leading up to the launch date in 2025. Mars One founder Bas Lansdorp said that the selection process was about "separating those who we feel are physically and mentally adept to become human ambassadors on Mars from those who are obviously taking the mission much less seriously." Apparently, many people had filmed their application videos while naked.

Mars One is currently trying to raise money to send a satellite and lander to Mars in 2018, which will allow them to live-stream events straight from the red planet.

Seem like high hopes? Yeah, but if it does happen, we're sure people will tune in to watch.

(Hey, people watch things like Pawn Stars and Duck Dynasty, so why not?)
