Hollywood may be running out of superheroes and young adult novels to bring to the big screen, but the studios still have plenty of sitcoms from the ‘60s to remake. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Josh Gad (1600 Penn) will star as the titular Gilligan in Warner Bros’ upcoming movie adaptation of Gilligan’s Island. Gad will also reunite with 1600 Penn writers Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez to co-write the script, which may or may not include a three-hour tour.

The original Gilligan's Island follows a group of seven stranded tourists on a deserted island as they try to get back home with comical results, mostly. While you may not have an interest in seeing Gilligan’s Island come to the big screen now, remember no one wanted to see a 21 Jump Street movie at first either.
