Rockstar has dropped the beta version of the new Grand Theft Auto Online content creator to give gamers the power to set-up their own deathmatches and races.

Rockstar announced that the content creator is the same set of tools that developers used to put the game together. "With access to some of the same tools as our own game design and development team," read the Rockstar Newswire, "you can craft your own custom blood-soaked gunfights, high-octane street races, screaming jet dogfights and more. You'll also be able to publish your original Deathmatches and Races via the Rockstar Games Social Club for the whole community to discover, download, play, rate and share. "

The beta will run through this week and include customizations for Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Race, GTA Race and Rally Race.

To get access to these new creation goodies Rockstar is sending out a free auto-update but gamers will also need a Social Club account that this linked to your Xbox Live Gamertag or PlayStation Network ID.

This update doesn't include the hotly-anticipated Heists manager but an update was offered: "Heists are currently in development and we are working very hard to get them as polished and as fun as they can be. Stay tuned for much more detail in the New Year."

Also coming in 2014 are new Grand Theft Auto Vstory updates to continue “Michael, Franklin and Trevor's action, mayhem and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas. Plus much more still to be announced."
