It's easy to forget that video games are played by people all over the world, and, moreover, that differences in socio-economics, infrastructure and culture dictate that countries all have different ways of interacting with them.
In this fantastic photo essay over at Polygon, photojournalist Nick Hagen takes a trip to Lagos, Nigeria, and documents the way its citizens play games. Unlike in many parts of America, the internet in West Africa is often overwhelmed with connections, making local multiplayer the competition of choice over much less common online matches. What Hagen finds is a fascinating look into games we probably take for granted.
