No one could have predicted that Gal Gadot would be cast as Wonder Woman in the still-untitled Batman/Superman movie, but something we all saw coming was the immediate fan backlash over the news. Many fans took to the Internet to voice their displeasure over Gadot’s physique, which is much thinner than the Wonder Woman of the comics. There were also comments that Gadot’s breasts were not big enough for the iconic Amazon. Typical message board rants, really.

Gadot responded to these comments during an interview on Good Evening with Gai Pines (via Batman-News) by saying, “I represent the Wonder Woman of the new world. Breasts… anyone can buy for 9,000 shekels and everything is fine. By the way, Wonder Woman is amazonian, and historically accurate amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I’d really go ‘by the book’…it’d be problematic.”

She then commented on the rigorous training regime she will be embarking on to gain some mass for the part, “It’s the physical preparations that I’m starting now. A very serious training regimen – Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, jujutsu, Brazilian…1,000 and 1 things…I’ll gain body mass.”

Will these comments stop online critics from spewing sexist hate across the net? Of course not. Then again, they’ll be waiting an eternity to find an actress on this planet who actually matches Wonder Woman’s fantasy physique.

Batman/Superman hits theaters on July 15, 2015.
