X-Men: Days of Future Past may not be hitting theaters for another six months, but that’s not stopping director Bryan Singer from thinking about the franchise’s next installment, 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse. And earlier today the director took to Twitter to post a photo of himself and the movie’s writers brainstorming ideas for the film. To everyone's surprise, the tweet reveals that Singer has brought X-Men 2 writers Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris into the fold:

Late night #XMen #Apocalypse story session. #SimonKinberg @DanimalHarris @Mike_Dougherty It's snowing in Egypt! pic.twitter.com/GtJs3VgZ3M

The tweet doesn’t detail whether Harris and Dougherty would be directly involved in the scripting process or if they will just be helping to develop the story, but this is definitely good news for X-Men fans. X-Men 2 was one of the high-points of the series, and with the same talent back, along with First Class writer Simon Kinberg, Apocalypse is shaping up to be a project that fans can actually look forward to with a bit of positivity.

However, that all depends on how Days of Future Past fares when it hits theaters on May 23, 2014. X-Men: Apocalypse will follow shortly after on May 27, 2016.
