Next to summer, was there any school vacation better than winter break? The perks were amazing: basking in the Christmas afterglow, brand new presents to enjoy, and if both your parents worked, the house all to yourself. On top of that, it's been scientifically proven that the 1990s was undoubtedly the best decade to be a kid.

Put those factors together and our thesis is simple: '90s winter breaks were amazing. With Christmas coming up, take a trip down a snowed-in memory lane to reflect on what those days between December 24 and January 2 were like back in the good old days.

Waking up around the time you'd already be in second period.

Breaking in your Christmas come-ups.

OR

A vast wealth of quality TV re-runs to veg out to for a couple hours, both cartoon...

...and live action.

Posting up like so, completely uninterrupted.

You were probably listening to one of the following, because 'tis the season.

Getting dressed on YOUR terms.

Sledding and/or snowball fights with the homies.

Then trekking to your local video store...

To rent one or all of these classics.

Going in on a cup of hot chocolate to warm you up from outside adventures.

"Cleaning" the house before the parents get home.

And, lastly, staying up late because you have tomorrow off too.
