Some proud new owners of the Xbox One, after waiting in line all night in their best Cosplay, got home to receive a big fat error code when trying to update the next-gen hardware. So far this seems to be limited but Microsoft has released a set of error codes to troubleshoot the problem if it happens to you.
A small number of users have also reported problems with the Xbox One’s hard drive. An inserted disc makes a crunching sound – yikes – and then spits itself back out, making the disc unreadable. If you have this problem there is no known fix yet so stay tuned to Complex and Microsoft’s support page. Here is the release for Microsoft Support:
"You may get an error code after updating your console software. Look for the error below and try the suggested troubleshooting steps.
From the There’s a problem with the update screen holding down both triggers and both bumpers at the same time. A new screen will appear that will display the Update Error across the bottom.
Note: The “x” digits vary according to several factors, such as region or country. Exclude the first 2 characters (Ox),l the next 8 characters will point to you to the error codes listed below.
If you have an Exxx xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx number displayed across the bottom of your screen after a system update you will not need the step above, locate your Exxx error message from the list below"
