It takes a lot of money to develop a so called triple-A game like Grand Theft Auto V or Battlefield 4 often costing tens or hundreds of millions of dollars to create. Star Citizen, the publicly funded game from Wing Commander creator Chris Roberts is a little bit closer this week as it surpassed 33 million dollars.

As the largest publicly funded game in history we wonder just how long the funding campaign will last. Every new milestone unlocks different parts of the game in development. This latest milestone unlocked new ships and a larger universe to explore but at what point will the game come out? When the funds dry up?

The gaming world wants Star Citizen and has proven it with big dollar donations now let us hope that no matter what the upper level of funding is, the developers can deliver.
