Some jobs simply require an advanced degree and there is no getting around it. No one has ever become a doctor or a lawyer through sheer hard work and gumption; those things are essential, but so is a degree. You don't rise from the mailroom to be a CEO anymore either, unless your trip from the mailroom involves an MBA detour. Research your desired career and you might find that in our overeducated world, a degree is now a requirement for entry. Though it is usually a good thing to wait a bit after undergrad before returning to school, if you know that you can't get where you want to go without another piece of paper, the sooner you get it, the better off you'll be.
