Three students were shot outside of Brashear High School in Pittsburgh's Beechview neighborhood this afternoon, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The shooting was reported just before 3 p.m. this afternoon, mere minutes after the end of the school day, which, according to the Post-Gazette, concludes at 2:46 p.m. Senior Krystal Henson told Pittsburgh's WPXI that she thought the sound of gunfire was just "kids playing around" until she saw one of the victims.
"My friend said, 'A kid is laying on the ground, and there is blood.' Everyone started running," she said.
WPXI says that police told them three men clad in all black emerged from the woods behind the school and began opening fire. After firing an undisclosed number of gunshots, they ran back into the woods. Police are currently searching in the woods for the suspects.
Ebony Pugh, spokeswoman for the school district, said that none of the victims were on school property when they were shot. Though one student was found inside of the school, Pugh noted that the student must've either ran inside, or was taken there by emergency crews.
According to WPXI, a bullet grazed one student's head, while the other two victims have sustained non-life-threatening injures. We will update with more information once it becomes available.
