Shermain Miles has literally led a life of crime. The 52-year-old Chicago native, who has been arrested 396 times over the last 35 years, wants to reroute her life following her release from the Logan Correctional Center in Lincoln, Ill. on Monday.

According to NBC Chicago, a judge sentenced Miles—whose rap sheet includes everything from disorderly conduct to assaulting a City Council member—to time served this past June after she agreed to seek treatment for substance abuse and mental health.

"I’m really not that bad a person," Miles said after her release, adding that "the alcohol [she drank] turned [her] into a monster."

Miles said that she was permanently giving up drugs and alcohol as she entered a home for ex-cons earlier this week. Best of luck to her.
