The cult graphic novel long thought un-adaptable may be finally coming to life, and on the small screen. Yesterday Badass Digest reported that AMC may be courting an adaptation of Preacher, and with an unlikely creative team at the helm: Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. That's right, the guys who brought you This Is The End, one of the year's best films, may bring one of the comic world's most graphically violent stories from page to screen.

Preacher follows the adventures of Jesse Custer, a boozy preacher who becomes a vessel for an abnormal entity: the lovechild of an angel and a demon. The possession gives him immeasurable abilities, and along with his ex-girlfriend and a 100 year-old vampire, Jesse goes hunting for God himself, who's been MIA, battling an assortment of random crazies and creatures on the way. Also, there's a guy named Arseface, because, well you get it.

The series is full of black humor in that same vein, and also exceedingly dark, not to mention, blasphemous. Over the decades there have been many aborted attempts to bring it to the screen, with fans wondering if the tale even really lends itself to movie or TV form. Most fans would agree that in terms of TV, Preacher would be best suited to a pay cable network, free of pressure from censorship, advertisers, and commercial breaks. Might a Preacher series tailored for AMC be too toned down to honor the source material? Or does the gore of Walking Dead and pulp perfection of Breaking Bad suggest the network can handle it? Nothing's been confirmed yet, but Seth Rogen's tweets basically say it all, no?
