The next generation of consoles usually means one big thing: graphics. How do the launch titles for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One stack up? The Verge breaks down the next-gen consoles against each other and their predecessors.
Some games offer a clear victor. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag looks amazing on next-gen consoles and so does Battlefield 4, they both include a lot more detail and lighting effects over the past generation. Some sports titles though, like Madden 25, are still pretty bland on both generations. Launch titles are not the best representation of a console’s overall ability but just the warm-up to where developers will go.
What do you think? Did the difference between generations wow you? Or as the graphical upgrades have leveled off are the new benefits of consoles – apps, Kinect, livestreaming – outweighing the moderated performance enhancement?
