Paramount Pictures has been scrambling to find a new Star Trek director since J.J. Abrams ditched the Enterprise for the Force, and it appears his successor will be...Attack the Block helmer Joe Cornish! Studios entrusting indie directors with the keys to their franchises seems to be the trend these days, and Cornish proved with his directorial debut that he can pull off a good humans versus aliens affair, on a small budget no less. This news should also please diehard Trekkies who weren't too pleased with this past summer's Into Darkness, to say the least. The deal isn't finalized just yet, but with a summer 2014 start date—which would probably put Star Trek 3 up against Episode VII in 2015, if it isn't delayed—it should be soon.
