Huge news from Netflix: In an announcement this morning, the company revealed historic plans to develop four new live-action TV shows and a new miniseries for Marvel based on various superheroes, including Daredevil and Jessica Jones, in 2015.

According to the announcement, the endeavor will begin with a live-action series based on Daredevil, then individual shows based off of Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage will follow—four series total. After that, a series based off of The Defenders, which "reimagines a dream team of self-sacrificing, heroic characters" will be released. As of now, the plan is to begin streaming the four, thirteen-episode series in 2015, before introducing The Defenders afterwards.

This is a huge deal for both Netflix and Marvel, who have both been dabbling in television recently—Netflix with its original programming, and Marvel with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. There's no word yet on when exactly in 2015 the first Daredevil series will premiere, but we'll have more information on this as it becomes available.

Also, here's something to really think about: Can we all just take a moment to consider the fact that Jessica Jones is getting a TV series before DC's Wonder Woman gets a movie?
