Instagram may be getting another major update in the near future, and it's one that a lot of those thirsty dudes are bound to take advantage of once it's released.

Rumors are the Instagram is planning to launch its own private messaging option by the end of the year. It will be the cherry-on-top of a big 12 months that saw the company add 15-second videos to its features along with a range of new filters. According to sources, Instagram might also toy with the idea of group messaging, more than likely borrowing the group messaging system from its big brother, Facebook. With the holidays quickly approaching, smartphones are going to be flying off of the shelves like hotcakes, and there's going to be a huge number of potential Instagram users getting a hold of a smartphone. Private messaging will give Instagram an added boost of features to sway people from using Snapchat, which is growing more and more in popularity. And once, the holidays are over, the next few weeks are going to be Valentine's season, so private messaging will give users that extra incentive to reach out and privately flirt with the person whose pictures they're stalking all the time.

Stay tuned, and we'll keep you up-to-date with a likely release date for this new feature.
