Considering the ratings, this news comes as absolutely no surprise, but it's still nice to have confirmation: In a press release today, FX announced that they've officially ordered a fourth season of American Horror Story, set to premiere some time in 2014.
"Put simply, Ryan Murphy is a master television producer," CEO of FX Networks, John Landgraf, said in a statement. "Time and time again he reinvents the form...AHS: Coven is the best yet, and I have no doubt that the next installment will be even better."
The network has reportedly ordered 13 episodes, which, as always, will consist of different storylines, settings, characters, and paranormal themes—but still centered around a character portrayed by Jessica Lange, who has confirmed her interest to star in at least the next two seasons.
The current season, Coven, has proven to be the show's most successful yet: Since its premiere last month, its been averaging about 7.74 million viewers a week, which is an 83 percent increase from the last season's ratings. The first two episodes of the season were also, reportedly, the highest rated single telecasts for the demographic of adults 18-34 in FX history.
There's no word yet on what plotline next season will focus on—so you should probably all start speculating in the comments now.
