The remains of a 66-year-old New Jersey man were found inside of his Jersey City apartment on Tuesday—inside of a block of cement. Police were summoned after reports of a foul odor eminating from the apartment and found William Marshall's body beneath a pile of clothing and "hardened cement."
Despite Marshall's death not being declared a homicide, CBS New York says that foul play has not been ruled out. According to Gothamist, Marshall had recently lost both his wife and his job, and neighbors say that a younger man—possibly his stepson—had been living with him. Another neighbor said that Marshall had not been seen since his return from a rehabilitation center in July, and that his rent checks had been signed by someone else.
