Tao is flexing its dominance, expanding to a downtown location appropriately titled Tao Downtown (92 Ninth Avenue). Housed in a 22,000-square-foot space, Tao Downtown seats 400 and sports a slightly different menu than its Midtown location. Tao Downtown offers entrees such as Glazed Tuna with Wild Mushrooms and Pan Roasted Halibut, as well as a variety of dim sum, noodles and small plates.
Be forewarned—Tao downtown is costly. There isn't an antree under $28, so visits might be reserved for special occasions. Very special occasions.
