Sandy Hook Elementary school, site one of the most terrifying mass shootings in history, will be demolished. Residents of Newton, Conn. voted to accept a $49.25 million appropriation to destroy the school and build a brand new one in its place.
Despite overwhelming support of the move, the Newton Bee says there's a small group of detractors who either expressed concerns about enrollment or want to see the building used for other reasons. Still, they were outmatched—90 percent of residents voted in favor of accpeting the money.
The plan is to knock the old building down by Dec. 14—the one-year anniversary of the shooting.
