No good deed goes unpunished by stabbing. A pandhandler was arrested in Long Island yesterday after stabbing a man who only gave him a dollar.

NBC New York reports that the attacker approached his victim at 3 a.m. yesterday morning in Elmont, asking him several times for money. The man caved, handing over a dollar bill, which apparently did not satisfy the suspect. When the man declined to give him more money, he was stabbed in the chest, hands, face and neck. He retaliated by striking his attacker with a pipe.

The aggressor fled, tossing a brick through the window of a nearby gas station for whatever reason. Both he and the victim later ended up at the same hospital (what are the odds?), where the victim was easily able to identify the knife-wielder. He weas arrested and charged with attempted robbery, criminal mischief, criminal possession of a weapon and assault.
