As large as the United States is, it can be made to seem very small when you break it down by pizza chains. Nathan Yau of FlowingData determined where the nine major pizza chains were located across the country, showing where the nearest locations are within a 10-mile radius.

Thee geographic distribution makes perfect sense. Domino's has a strong showing, but Pizza Hut is the clear national champion. Papa John's, which originated in Kentucky, is clustered mostly in the country's central east region. Little Caesars, which first opened in Garden City, Mich., has its strongest showing in the Great Lakes area and California.

Yau really gets granular with the data. It won't make your head hurt, though; we promise. In all honesty, it'll probably just make you hungry.
