A man who clearly takes education—and life—too seriously has been accused of wringing his nephew's neck over the boy's poor academic performance. Garrett Wright of Tempe, Ariz. was arrested on child abuse and assault charges after his nephew told a friend that he had been choked, punched and slapped by his uncle due to bad grades.

Wright, 48, denied the charges, saying that he had gripped his nephew up for looking at him funny. However, Arizona's CBS 5 reports that an officer said saw red marks on the boy's neck, shoulder and eyebrow. Child Protective Services was contacted to help place the boy into a foster home while his uncle and legal guardian was jailed.
