Vintage gaming console, ColecoVision, is looking to make a comeback. 

Developers over at Rantmedia Games are attempting to bring back the classic console in the version of an iOS app. Announced today via their Kickstarter page, Rantmedia Games is going through the fund raising mogul in attempt to bring some of the iconic ColecoVision titles to iPads and iPhones.

Rantmedia Games owns the rights to the ColecoVision brand and many of the systems most successful titles. Through Kickstarter, Rantmedia is looking for fans to contribute $250,000 in order to bring their favorite vintage games to the modern era of gaming. 

Rantmedia owns the rights to all following ColecoVision games:

  • Antarctic Adventure
  • BlackJack/Poker
  • Bump ‘n’ Jump
  • Brain Strainers
  • Destructor
  • Fortune Builder
  • Frenzy
  • Jumpman
  • Jumpman Junior
  • Jungle Hunt
  • Montezuma’s Revenge
  • Ms. Space Fury
  • Pepper II
  • Space Fury
  • Super Action Boxing
  • Super Action Football
  • Super Action Baseball
  • Super Action Soccer
  • Zaxxon

Initially released in 1982, the ColecoVision console was an innovative system selling nearly 2 million units within the first two years of it being on market. Approximately 145 titles, most notably Donkey Kong, were produced for the console from 1982-1984, but the system was discontinued in October 1985 after sales declined dramatically.

Currently, the campaign has 88 followers who have donated nearly $2000 towards making this dream a reality. If your interested in supporting the cause, check out their Kickstarter page and donate, as the project only has until November 8 to reach their goal.
