Today, the DEA announced that 30-year-old Juan Rojas had been indicted for storing 31 kilos of cocaine, two loaded semi-automatic pistols and $1.6 million inside of his apartment, which is located near prep school Horace Mann.
The Bronx native was arrested on Sep.26 after authorities found the drugs wrapped inside of cellophane inside of a bedroom closet. Some of the coke was coated in grease to throw off the drug-sniffing dogs. The money was found inside of bags stuffed in closets around the house; the money was found under the bed. Scales, a money counter and drug ledgers—additional tell-tale signs of a drug operation—were also taken.
Authorities believe Rojas moved about 50 kilos of cocaine each month, with each kilo selling for around $50,000.
Rojas, who will be arraigned on Nov. 6, faces two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
