Buckets of cash and L’Oréal contracts are great, but a reality TV show with a real prize is finally on the way. According to TV Guide, a competition-premised show, which would grant the winner a seat on Virgin Galactic’s second suborbital commercial flight, could be forthcoming. It’s being pitched by producer Mark Burnett, the man behind some of America’s most popular TV shows, including Survivor, the Voice, and Celebrity Apprentice.
The winner would get a $250,000 seat on Richard Branson's SpaceShip Two, whose waiting list apparently includes the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Justin Bieber, Brad Pitt, and Angelina Jolie. There’s still no set date for the space takeoff, though it’s being pegged for some time in 2014.
Burnett is said to have tried to pitch a space-related TV show twice before to no avail but perhaps the third time will be the charm. Does the winner get a plus one, though? Inquiring minds want to know.
